At first I thought my Bonavita 1900 was no more impressive than the cheap Mr. Coffee, as I discuss in the video below, but using finer coffee grounds I'm impressed with the Bonavita after all.

Mr. Coffee generally makes the best products at their respective price points. If you go entry level absolute cheapest----a Mr. Coffee product will generally outperform the competition. As you walk up the ladder, their features for the price are better. For the Keurig style brewers----there is a bare bones Mr. Coffee that undercuts the others by quite a bit and it makes hotter, better, fuller coffee. I currently have a great "Limited Edition" Keurig brewer that was a gift. When that conks out, it will be replaced with a Mr. Coffee version.

The $25 Mr. Coffee Drip machine did make me an excellent cup of coffee.

I've been on the Keurig kick because of how fast and convenient it is. I found "Eight O'Clock Coffee" Dark Italian Roast that is excellent for the price. I also like most of the Gevalia flavors. For basic canned coffee, I like Chock Full O'Nuts. If I just need a quick pick-up in the morning, I like most coffee. My Mom used to buy Maxwell House and I still get that once in a while too.

There comes a point where the "ritual" of making coffee becomes too much of a chore. I use a known good brand of ground coffee, keep it in the fridge, and make it in a cafetiere as needed. Even with automated machines, you still have bits to clean up occasionally. Maybe my coffee isn't the ultimate freshest brew I could get but it's close enough and that'll do for me.

I like the ritual of making thick, creamy coffee. I can't drink mine black however. Too bitter.

Oh, I can't stand black. I don't know how people drink it down unless they're after a short, jarring and unpleasant experience. As a savourer, I like to take my time and enjoy the flavour.

Black coffee makes me nauseous. I like it with whole milk, at the very least, and some Stevia.

I used to take mine with cream (milk) and/or sugar, but now I prefer straight black----to really taste the variations in the different coffee beans.
