Thanks to Paul and Gary or apprising us of Jay Allen's review of the Sangean HDR-18 Radio. Jay is pleased with both the FM and AM and heartily recommends this new Sangean offering.

Based on Jay's review, the HDR-18 looks like a substantial improvement over the WR-2 (at least the original WR-2 that I have). Plus the HDR-18 adds HD reception on FM (probably quite useful) and AM (not so useful).

While I don't have much interest in HD, the radio appears to be an improvement on my bedside WR-2 because of the HDR-18's DSP chip, which I assume makes FM improved.

JA comments about the smallness: the 12-11-7 specs on Amazon -- which sounded way off-- compared to its WR-2 brother, appear in error.

Amazon dropped price but I'd like to see it get to about $150.

I assume they're the same size, no?

Sangean's website lists both the WR-2 and HDR-18 as 9.45" W x 4.41" H x 7.61" D.
