Thanks, Tim K:
When I discovered your blog last week, I was waiting for my new Sangean WR-50P to be delivered. I unpacked it the other day and just posted a review of it on Amazon. Not sure why there's such a dearth of user-generated content about this radio, and even from publications. In light of that, I wanted to share my own experience with it so far.
Short version: worth every penny, and then some!
I hope this helps your other readers, too.

Jeff -
I'm not sure if you've reported this, but the Sangean DT 500W has been cancelled. There were a few poor ratings on Amazon, and the Sangean US website now lists the radio as discontinued. Too bad. I was looking forward to upgrading to it from the 400W.

In the DT500's place is the Sangean DT160 with DSP tuner. It's very good.

But the DT-160 lacks a speaker and the NOAA band. It's an entirely different radio from the DT-400W or the DT-500W.

Yes, it is different in those regards. Happily, I only use earbuds on tiny portable radios.

That's too bad about the 500. I'll keep the CC Pocket, outstanding radio.

I ordered the new Bluetooth version of the Eton-Grundig S350. I should write a review of it after I've played with it. Watch this space.

Ed, I hope you like it, but in any event I look forward to the review. Jeff
