Gary has apprised us of Jay Allen's Sangean U4 Worksite Radio review. It looks like a winner to me. You'll wan to buy a wire antenna to supplement the short FM rubber one that comes with the U4. Other than that, it looks good.

I haven't delved into the worksite radio variety yet. I'm tempted----but have been successful using an old boombox for car washing or snow shoveling.

I'm tempted by U4 but the short FM antenna limits is use for hard to get stations. Also an old boombox is perfect for outdoors and snow.

There are so many vintage offerings both on ebay and in local thrift shops that unless you want something for its 21st century technology such as bluetooth or an SD reader, I see no reason not to buy something built in the 70s or 80s as opposed to a new offering such as this.

I'd rather have a JVC boombox from 70s.

JVC made some beauties.
