Thanks for this -- if you could do a video that would help those who still consider the 909x. But my experience has been that the receiver is, in fact, quite deaf on the whip alone. Here's my experiment comparing with two other classic radios:

Finally a new Post! I just picked up a near new Satellit 800 for a whopping 105 dollars Canadian. You know what?, it's a frigging good rig! Can regularly pick up CBC Winnipeg 2300 KM away. My EX5 can but surprisingly with more interference and a lot less clarity and volume. Really amazing. And for that price!!
