A year ago, my unwitting dieting mentor inspired me to lose 50 pounds when he said in response to my inclination to eat whatever I want: “You have to make a choice.” Those words resonate to this day like Jor-El giving moral instruction to his son Superman as the superhero travels to Earth and Jor-El says, "Even though you've been raised as a human being you are not one of them...They can be a great people Kal-El; they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you, my only son."
Transposed to my situation: “Even though you’ve been raised on a planet saturated with sugar and carbs, you must not be one of them. You must show them, and yourself, the Ketogenic Way.”
I thought about those words this morning after samping some donuts and a rather large apple fritter.
